Just Wondering

by colinthur @ 17/09/2008 - 08:59:17

Crude oil prices have dropped over 15% in a week.

Not a peep out of the petrol companies or our energy suppliers though.

Nor has there been any comment from our so-called energy regulator.

Maybe they think with all the noise about HBOS, AIG and XL going to the wall that we won't notice?

Why am I not surprised?

Brian Cox

I was reading a profile of Professor Brian Cox in the Observer yesterday.  He's the Manchester University Professor in charge of one of the LHC Detectors at CERN, you know that huge machine that's going to cause the end of the world if you believe what some mis-informed doom-mongers are saying

So, apart from him being the ex-keyboard player in D-Ream, and having to leave labs at uni in the afternoon and trundle down Oxford Road in order to support Take That at GMEX, there was one thing in the article that caught my eye, and showed Prof Cox to be the kind of bloke you could go for a few beers and engage in good banter with...this being his thoroughly scientific riposte to the above-mentioned oblivion predictors.

"Anyone who thinks the LHC will destroy the world is a twat"

Good call Brian. Looks like Physics is cool again.

Now is it me...?

Or does Formula One seem to have an anti McClaren Bias?

A great race yesterday, full of incident and excitement, with weather conditions levelling out the competition and making the event into a fantastic spectator event instead of a procession...

...only to be screwed over by a plainly ludicrous stewards decision that just confirms their bias to their favourite team in red.
