As all of us dutiful parents are gearing up for the final chapter in the Harry Potter saga, by making sure our Amazon order is being processed, that there's enough credit left on the card to pay, that the letterbox is big enough to accept hodding great big hardback copies of JK's next best seller, etc, I thought it might be worth having a little prediction as to what's going to happen in the finale.
Will good triumph over evil?
Will the realm of darkness once more rule in the land of wizards?
Will it ever stop raining? - oh, sorry that's real life isn't it! ![]()
A couple of years ago, just after book 5 came out, I was at the V festival in Stafford, and some bright spark - no, really, hats off to whoever it was - had texted onto the big screen - Dumbledore dies - Snape did it! This caused one of the biggest cheers, rapidly followed by one of the biggest groans of the day.
Anyhow, I got to thinking about what influences might have come to bear on Ms Rowling, and therefore might have an impact on how Harry gets it in the end how the book ends. A simple bit of research shows that she is only 3 years older than yours truly, so her influences may actually be similar to mine, in which case its pretty easy to guess what's going to happen.
In the final chapters, there will be a big battle scene, where Voldemort discloses himself to not be Voldemort or Tom Riddle, but is actually James Potter, and took on the name of Voldemort after turning to the magical dark side. In a touching moment, just after removing Harry's right hand with a particularly cunning spell, he reveals his true identity uttering the imortal words, "Harry Potter, I am your father". After which it also turns out that Hermione is Harry's long lost twin sister, so its alright if she fancies Ron after all. A few pointless chapters involving cute but pointless teddy bears, and then Lord V will realise the errors of his ways and become good again, just before snuffing it. Then everyone will live happily ever after. Oh and there'll be a completely superfluous scene where Hermione wears a hugely uncomfortable and revealing metal bikini whilst chained to a large slug creature - not sure where that'll fit in the order of things, but I'm pretty sure its necessary for the artistic integrity of the last film
