Col World has suddenly taken a turn towards healthy living and exercise folks. Well for the last few weeks anyway...
There are a couple of reasons for this new found vigour in the exercise department: firstly because of catching sight of myself in the mirror with my 'enhanced by Christmas cheer' body, and also I did the stupid thing of looking up my BMI on the t'interweb
Usually I'm happy to dismiss most random web based statistics as codswallop, and would happily do so with BMI calculations, especially given that there seems to be about 273 different ways of calculating it (Google for BMI and you'll see what I mean), but unfortunately I wasn't able to convince myself that the image in the bathroom mirror was a similarly randomly generated figment of someone elses imagination.
So anyway, I've been hitting the streets in an attempt to reduce my BM by the recommended stone or so - I'm glad to say that I'm merely overweight (or is that undertall
), rather than anything worrying - and have started to clock up some decentish weekly mileage. In fact I'm now doing more miles than when I trained for my last half marathon. This week, I'll be running at least 4 times which will add up to about 17 miles. Impressive eh?
The good news is that all this exercise seems to be having an effect, and I've managed to shed about 5lbs in the last 3 weeks and a svelter and slenderer Col seems to be emerging from the cocoon of that fat bloke who's been wearing my jeans over Christmas...and that's without even having to give up beer. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it?
