I got the news that didn't get into the London Marathon via the ballot - and I'm not sure exactly how I feel, its a cross between relieved and disappointed I think.

Fortunately the organisers have their stuff together, as in return for allowing my entry fee to be passed on to charity, I've received a rather natty blue fleece with a London Marathon logo on it. Not only does this make me feel relatively well disposed towards the organisers and quite willing to enter again next year, but it also means that the un-initiated might actually think that I have already taken part in the event. Sneaky eh :D?

I might even get off my arse and apply for a charity bond place in the event, but that does involve getting organised and raising some funds for the charity in question...which leads to another dilemma - mainly who the hell would I choose to collect money for? A few years ago, I ran the Bristol Half and collected sponsorship to the tune of about a grand for St Ann's Hospice in Manchester - and was pretty disappointed with the response from them after I'd handed the cheque over.

One to mull over I think - although I'll have to be quick as I'm sure all the charity places get taken up fairly soon after all the ballot places have been distributed. Anyhow, I think I'll find another half to enter and maybe leave London 'til next year. Its remarkably near my birthday, so there's another ready made excuse for not doing it ;)
